Running someone else's code typically involves cloning their git repository and configuring your machine in one way or another so that your machine can interpret their source file.
We collect list of useful nix one-liners that drop you in well-configured shells that can immediately run a server, service or a command from a cloned git repository.
I suspect that Nix's support is not uniform across different software communities. For example, I'm not aware how well Nix supports Node's ecosystem, but I have a daily encounter with pulling packages from Hackage. In those encounters, Nix has made my life easier.
